F.A.Q.

Does anyone else find out about the things that were discussed in the therapy session?

Psychotherapists are subject to a strict legal duty of confidentiality. This means that the content of sessions and the mere fact of utilising psychotherapy is subject to confidentiality. This is an essential prerequisite for an open and trust-based working relationship and is intended to protect the therapeutic relationship from outside interests in particular. No information is passed on to employers, health insurance companies, tax authorities or similar institutions.

How long does psychotherapy take?

You decide how much support you need. The majority of therapies in Integrative Gestalt Therapy have a frequency of one (possibly two) hour(s) per week. Of course, this is not a general statement, as deviations can occur for various reasons and it is therefore difficult to make a reliable statement here. The same applies to general statements about the duration of psychotherapy. The spectrum here ranges from a few agreed sessions (as may be the case, for example, in the intervention of short-term crises) to therapies that provide long-term support over many years. Many therapies range from one year to three years.

How long does a psychotherapy session take?

If you decide to do so, psychotherapy with me usually involves one individual session of 50 minutes per week. As I am still in training, my work is supervised by an experienced teaching therapist – comparable to the work of a future doctor in hospital at the end of his training as a specialist. If required, a double session can be arranged in advance.

How does psychotherapy begin?

Firstly, we make an appointment for an initial consultation. During this we get to know each other and you have the opportunity to describe your concerns. You can share your goals for the therapy and clarify questions about the therapeutic work. In addition, you can get a first impression of me as a person so that you can then decide at your leisure whether you would like to start a therapeutic process with me.

I am unable to attend therapy, what should I do?

If you are unable to attend an appointment, please cancel by email or telephone up to 24 hours before the appointment if possible. If the cancellation is made less than 24 hours before the appointment, I will have to charge the cancellation costs of € 80.

Why is psychotherapy useful?

Psychotherapy is useful to heal or alleviate mental suffering; offer help in life crises; enable changing disruptive behaviour and attitudes; to promote personal development and health.

What does in training under supervision mean?

As a psychotherapist in training under supervision, I am in the final phase of psychotherapy training and am advised and accompanied by experienced psychotherapists. Psychotherapeutic work under the title „in training under supervision“ means that the psychotherapeutic work is supervised by a teaching supervisor. For this purpose, anonymised practical cases for teaching are discussed and reflected upon. Supervision is a form of quality assurance. It indirectly serves as an additional source of psychotherapeutic expertise.
